CONSTITUTION
Article I - Name of Society
The name of the Society is M.O.S.A.I.C., Multilingual Orientation Service Association
for Immigrant Communities, hereafter referred to as the Society.
Article II - Goals and Objectives of the Society
The objectives of the Society are:
- To provide a wide variety of social services to recent immigrants or Canadians
who experience difficulty with the English language. The services of the Society
shall not be cultural or recreational but rather, broadly speaking, social services
designed to improve the general welfare and well-being of immigrants and non-English
speaking Canadians.
- To act as liaison between the immigrant communities and educational, medical,
legal, and social services.
- To act as cultural interpreter between the Canadian and ethnic communities.
- To help make immigrants aware of their rights and obligations in Canadian society.
- To promote inter-cultural awareness, understanding, and acceptance.
- To ensure that the human rights and dignity of individuals are respected
regardless of language or origin.
Article III
The operations of the Society are to be carried on mainly in the City of Vancouver
and the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
Article IV
The Society shall be carried on without purpose of gain for its members and any
profits or other accretions to this Society shall be used for promoting its objectives.
ARTICLE V
In the event of dissolution or winding up of the Society, all assets remaining after
the payment of any just debts ad obligations will, at the discretion of the Board
of Directors, be given to a society with similar objectives providing that that
society is a recognized Canadian charitable organization or alternatively these
assets may be distributed to one or more recognized charitable organizations in Canada.
ARTICLE VI
Clauses 3 and 4 of this Constitution are unalterable in accordance with
Section 22.1 of the Societies Act.
